American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was founded in 1866 as the first humane organisation in the Western Hemisphere.

American Humane Association exists to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children and animals.

Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV) has a grants and jobs listing section.

Born Free USA (http://www.bornfreeusa.org): Working across the United States and with its west coast office in Sacramento, California, Born Free USA united with Animal Protection Institute (“Born Free USA”) is a national non-profit animal advocacy organisation working to end animal cruelty and exploitation through legislation, litigation and public education.

Best Friends Sanctuary (http://bestfriends.org/): is situated in Southern Utahs Golden Circle of national parks, it is home to about 1,500 dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and other animals. Job vacancies advertised regularly.

Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) is now the largest assistance dog organization in the world.

Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) promotes the humane treatment of companion animals through protection, placement, education and example. Their wide variety of programs and services exist to serve the animals and the people of the mid-Michigan community.

Chimp Haven (http://www.chimphaven.org/): serves as The National Chimpanzee Sanctuary. They are an independent, non profit organisation whose mission is to provide lifetime care for chimpanzees who have been retired from medical research, the entertainment industry or no longer wanted as pets.

Dogs for the Deaf works to rescue and professionally train dogs to assist people and enhance their lives.

Elephant Sanctuary was founded in 1995 and today, it is the largest sanctuary in the United States specifically designed to meet the needs of endangered African and Asian elephants. Utilising over 2,700 acres, it provides three separate and protected natural habitat environments that eighteen resident elephants call home.

Farm Animal Reform Movement (FARM), Maryland advocates a plant-based diet and humane treatment of farmed animals through a variety of grassroots programs. They accept resumes throughout the year, even if the appropriate position is not advertised.

Helen Woodward Animal Centre (HWAC) is a unique, private, non-profit organisation dedicated to saving the lives of animals and enriching the lives of people.

Houston SPCA (http://www.houstonspca.org/): is Houston’s first and largest animal protection organisation and shelter. Their mission is to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation.

Humane Society of Broward County provides shelter, aid and responsible adoptions to animals entrusted to their care, and educates the community about respect and kindness to all animals.

In Defense of Animals (IDA) has a mission to end animal exploitation, cruelty, and abuse.

International Wolf Center advances the survival of wolf populations by teaching about wolves, their relationship to wild lands and the human role in their future.

Marin Humane Society (MHS) Founded in 1907, the Marine Humane Society is a progressive, award-winning animal shelter, offering refuge and rehabilitation to nearly 8,000 animals each year.

Marine Mammal Centre is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured, sick and orphaned marine mammals.
