This Ofqual regulated qualification consists of an intensive 1:1 practical training day where the learner will learn how to conduct a hydrotherapy treadmill therapy session involving pre-treatment, during treatment and post-treatment treadmill procedures.
This qualification consists of 24 Guided Learning Hours and attracts 3 credits at Level 3
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with basic knowledge of an aspect of small animal hydrotherapy. This qualification enables learner to develop knowledge of Aquatic Treadmill Therapy. The qualification includes the opportunity for learners to operate an aquatic treadmill and assess patients for the aquatic treadmill. They will be able to create treadmill sessions and work within a multidisciplinary team.
This qualification will enable learners to progress to the Level 3 Award in Advanced Aquatic Treadmill Therapy.
Students undertaking this qualification will require significant knowledge of the principles and practice of small animal care hydrotherapy and anatomy and physiology in order to achieve this unit.
Students must first complete an industry-recognised Level 3 Certificate in Small Animal Hydrotherapy.
This unit aims to give students a practical skillset when using the aquatic treadmill. Develop knowledge to understand factors affecting patients in the aquatic treadmill. Upon completion, students will be able to assess the small animal patient for suitability and create a design plan.
Develop your knowledge of the treadmill equipment available and the principles of small animal and canine hydrotherapy treadmill therapy.
Learn how and where to position an aquatic treadmill and how to prepare the area, the patient and clients for a therapy session.
Gain an understanding of the types of conditions for which this treatment is suitable/unsuitable and how to monitor the treatment correctly.
This course consists of 1 practical training day at Woozelbears in one of the training centres listed below. Our training partner is an established canine hydrotherapy company. The centre has top of the range equipment including underwater treadmills, large bespoke pools, a hydrotherapy spa, the 2nd gait analysis treadmill in the UK and a team of highly qualified personnel.
Training at this centre enables students to learn from experienced professionals in the industry whilst working with a range of cases at different stages of treatment. This is a great opportunity to gain first-hand experience within the industry.
