Careers in animal care and the veterinary sector are an increasingly popular career choice and veterinary receptionists play a vital role as part of the team. Veterinary receptionists are responsible for the first impression that clients receive and they are the connection between the veterinary surgeon, nurses, clients and other veterinary practices or organisations. Veterinary receptionists are often required to process invoices and payments and manage shop stock and orders.
Veterinary receptionists may work at a veterinary practice, animal hospital or an animal charity.
The role of a veterinary receptionist is rewarding. Candidates for this career communicate well and have an understanding of routine veterinary treatments. Veterinary receptionists are organised, have good administration skills, are calm, and positive and can give reassurance to a client who may be worried about their pet.
